Initial Switch Impressions + Early Reviews

Similar to how “we” was suddenly a buzz word after the reveal of Nintendo Wii, it is now off limits to use the word “switch” without a wink-wink nudge-nudge to accompany its use!

We’ve only had a handful of days with the system, but BOY has it left an impression on us! There’s really something special about Nintendo’s Switch console/portable hybrid platform. And having a huge open world Zelda game on it sure doesn’t hurt! It’s very early to have a full review but we’re happy to provide our thoughts so far, and we’d love to hear yours in the comments below. Tell us how your experience has been!

Playing Switch with Strangers

You don’t need to be real life friends to be Switch friends.

Launch day – March 3rd 2017 – we took two Switch units to the local mall and invited passersby to take a controller and give the new console a spin. We found a lot of people who didn’t buy their own console that were happy to give it a try! Impressions were all very positive.

Switch: Close Look at Controllers!

Hoping that some of the cheaper-looking parts of the controllers are just prototypes of the final hardware!

Nintendo Switch can be played with a plethora of different controller configurations, and we’re taking a close look at each of them PLUS any hidden buttons that might not be immediately evident on the controllers.

The Latest Switch Rumors (Dock Power!)

You just never know what to believe these days, but we might as well get excited about every little rumor while we can!

As the release of the Switch draws ever nearer, leaks and rumors are picking up more speed (and credibility). We’ve been learning a lot about Nintendo’s new console, what kind of ports the system has, as well as how the dock itself helps enhance gameplay while using the system at home. Certain developers are also starting to pipe up and say what games they may or may not have running on Switch development kits. Everything is just rumors at this point as we lead up to the January 12th full unveil of the Nintendo Switch, but these are some tasty pieces of gossip to tide us over!

Switch Presentation – Knee Jerk Reactions!

The hype train was real… it barrelled through here and plowed us over. Man oh man!

Catch the TBC Direct LIVE STREAM tomorrow

Scott is hot off the Switch hype from Nintendo’s full presentation! What a whirlwind of announcements. This is his knee-jerk reactions, recorded literally minutes after Nintendo’s live stream ended. He’s pretty happy about the console’s features, hardware, release date, and games… but some of those prices? OUCH! What did you think of Nintendo’s announcements made from the stage in Kyoto?

The Secret of the Switch

We did it. We finally know what the Switch is. We had a minor reveal late last year that provided a few answers, but it also brought up a lot more questions. There’s one thing in the long road of the Nintendo NX that completely astounds me: how on Earth did Nintendo keep a secret this long?

How did Nintendo keep a secret this long?

In this day and age, and with all the technology and leaks that happen constantly, it’s absolutely amazing that while a general idea of what Nintendo was cooking up was touched upon, up until the presentation we were still left guessing. So many times come E3 big reveals are ruined, but not this time. It was rumored that the Switch had a touch screen and motion controls, but we only now just confirmed it. We still had a few surprises that weren’t even guessed upon such as HD rumble, colored Joy-cons and the games for the Switch (excluding officially announced titles).

A lot of this was a mystery until less then two months from launch.

I don’t know how they did it, but I hope it’s a trend that continues. I loved being left in the dark. Not while it was happening, mind you, but it only strengthened the hype after the fact. Here’s hoping E3 can bring as much excitement and anticipation as the console reveal. Now excuse my insomnia while I wait (impatiently) until March 3rd…

TBC Direct: Switch Presentation!

Too bad Simeon had to go deal with that stranger from another dimension… in other news, Glen’s sharp face and soothing voice make their internet debut!
