WonderBoy: The Dragon’s Trap Review (Switch)

Or Wonder Girl – don’t you forget it!

#567 – SEGA fans, rejoice – your time has come. This Master System classic has been remastered and released on the Switch! This is a RPG-ish, Metroidvania-ish, Zelda II-ish game that looks and sounds stunning in the rereleased version. Beautiful hand-drawn graphics are really on display here, so take a look at the footage as you hear our thoughts!

BOTW and ARMS are DONE!

In this week’s Nintendo News, it looks like two big Switch games aren’t getting any further content updates… Breath of the Wild and ARMS are both complete games as of today. We also take a look at some rumored upcoming Switch games that Amazon partially leaked. Hype!

Game of Categories! Nintendo Edition

We totally nailed the song portion.

Which member of the Crew can think on their feet faster? Simeon and Scott are put to the test in a fast-paced (and silly) game of categories.

Trip to a Retro Arcade (Vlog)

Pretty sure we’re the next Steve Weibe.

While Ryan Van Liere was in town for the launch of Nintendo Switch, Simeon and Scott decided to take him out for a night of fun at the local arcade. We played a lot of arcade games, Nintendo and others, and sunk a lot of quarters into the slots. Our skills, you ask? You’ll have to watch and see for yourself.

*Nintendo* Game of the Year Awards 2017!

For 2016, our game of the year awards were complete sarcasm. All we could come up with were jokes. 2017 is a way different story, however, thanks to the Nintendo Switch and its excellent line-up of year one support from Nintendo, indies, and 3rd parties alike. Buckle up as we dish out 2018 individual awards to a wide variety of well-deserving games!

Should I Sell my Wii U to Buy Switch?

It’s nothing personal, Wii U… it’s not you, it’s us.

As we discussed yesterday, with a brand new console coming (expensive in itself), it’s also accompanied by many accessories and other opportunities to spend your hard-earned cash. Well, that money needs to come from somewhere, so what about selling your older games and consoles… say… your Wii U? Will you really be playing it anymore? Does it really have THAT many truly exclusive games? We’ve collected the definitive lists of pros and cons – watch, then make up your mind and proceed with confidence!

DLC Wish List: Zelda Breath of the Wild

Breath of the Wild is gearing up to take even more of our money! Ooh boy!

DLC is just a fact of life now! The gaming industry has fully adopted the post-launch expansion practice, and Nintendo is finally on board. We’re not too far off from our first dose of expanded Zelda content, so let’s start dreaming of what it could be like!

Revisiting Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

With Breath of the Wild sweeping our Game of the Year Awards, we thought it appropriate to go back “in time” and play a game from the past… A Link to the Past, to be precise. This SNES Classic is a gem, even by today’s standards. With modern games like Blossom Tales still taking nods from ALttP, it’s clear that this title was made to stand the test of time.

Zelda Escape Room Experience (VLOG)

Wait… if they didn’t solve the last puzzle, how did they get OUT of the Escape Room?

Recently, Scott was fortunate enough to make it to one of the Zelda Escape Rooms put on by SCRAP and Nintendo. He traveled to Seattle with his friends Joel and Meagan, and Vlogged the whole way! Well, no cameras were allowed during the puzzles themselves but you’ll still get lots of cool glimpses into their adventures. Music: Saria’s Fairy-Go-Round | ZipZipper & Harmony of Heroes

Just Dance Off! (Switch)

Somehow, Simeon and Scott were coerced into making this terrible video of themselves playing Just Dance on Nintendo Switch. What can we say? Whatever the patrons want, the patrons get. Join us as we give Just Dance 2018 and 2017 a spin, which is pretty accurate considering the motions we’re doing with our Joy-Con! Enjoy, and please DON’T share with any of your friends.

Reactions: Making of – Breath of the Wild

Maybe Nintendo will make a Nintendo Reacts video to our reaction video reacting to their Making Of video!

Nintendo put out a short series of videos documenting the development process of their latest and greatest title: Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We watched all of them and took down some notes to discuss, like what the biggest takeaways were and what some of the coolest ides were that got cut from the final game. Did you enjoy this behind-the-scenes look from the Big N? Let us know in the comments!

Games Coming to Fastest Selling Console

We’ve got some big news this week, including a very convincing leak (or fake) about Switch UI 5.0.0. Simeon and Scott discuss newly announced games making there way over to the Nintendo Switch, which is now the fastest selling home console in United States history!

How Nintendo Handles DLC

Season pass used to be a bad word – now Nintendo’s saying it all the time!

Breath of the Wild may be receiving perfect scores from around the industry, but its recent DLC expansion pass announcement was not met with as much enthusiasm. Simeon and Scott take a look at Nintendo’s downloadable content track record today before discussing the promise of added content for Link’s newest adventure. How are you feeling about the opportunity to pay to play more of Hyrule’s open world? Sound off in the comments below!

What’s New in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, home of the lone cheap Switch accessory.

In another show of Nintendo listening to their fans, they’ve completely updated Battle Mode in this entry of their kart racer series, while throwing in a bunch of extra characters, karts, and modes. All of the changes can be a bit hard to keep track of, and that’s why Simeon and Scott have gathered a comprehensive list for your convenience!

Best Podcasts for Nintendo Fans

You simply MUST be a podcast listener, we implore you!

#586 – Podcasts are magical. Why? Because fandoms thrive in the format. Where you might not have many real life friends to discuss your favorite shows, games, and topics with, there is ALWAYS a podcast for you to listen to. That’s especially true for the Nintendo community, with an abundance of professional and hobby shows to choose from. We’ve gathered the best suggestions, so get ready to subscribe and thank us later!

THE INTERVENTION // TBC Short Film

I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of him.

#529 – This has been a long time coming. Scott has been noticing some very questionable behavior in Simeon, and there was nothing else to do but sit down and talk it out. Scott decided that it would be best to capture the confrontation on film, so that if worse came to worse, he’d have video proof. What ended up happening, he could never have expected. Watch what came of the intervention.

R.I.P. Mad Catz

Sincerely, we do wish the best to those who lost their jobs in this process.

Unfortunately, a former video game industry giant has bit the dust. Mad Catz, long known for their affordable hardware alternatives and questionable quality, have filed for bankruptcy. What went wrong, and what does this mean for Nintendo fans? Simeon and Scott are here to discuss the fall-out!
